We’re constantly being knowledgeable about the importance of eye cream, that if used on a day-to-day basis we’re assured to look bright-eyed, rejuvenated as well as younger. However, do we know exactly how to apply it? What part of the eye do we concentrate on? Do we pat gently or rub in? When should eye cream be applied along with our other skin serums and cleansers?
SESHA Skin Care’s National Educator and approved esthetician, Victoria Piotrowski, chimes in on how to apply eye cream in order to maximize results:
“When choosing the best eye cream, it is crucial to ensure it penetrates, not just to get the outcomes you want, but also as a result of the fragile thin nature of the under eye skin. You should not use micro needling or other penetration techniques around the eye in order to boost penetration. The product needs to be gentle enough, but efficient to get your desired results.”
Proper Eye Cream Use:
Step 1. Wash face with a face cleaner.
Step 2. Tone with an all-natural toner to balance the skins PH.
Step 3. Use any required serums to the neck, face and décolleté, enabling them to fully absorb.
Step 4. Now Comes the Eye Cream:
Using your ring finger, put on small dots around the eye, above the eye up to the brow bone area and under the eye.
Softly tap the cream in to stimulate circulation. Do not pull or stretch the sensitive skin around the eye. Tap until you finally feel it absorb. Pay special focus to problem areas when tapping cream in.
You can also carefully massage in circular motions, but keep in mind not pulling on the skin.
Step 5. Complete with a moisturizer and/or SPF in the daytime for protection.
